Women Health Project – Cameroon

On 28 May 2023, the Bethesda Association commemorated the United Nations
International Women’s Menstrual Day with adult women and girls in Mile 1 and Kake1
villages in Meme Division, South-west Region, Cameroon, with the theme: WOMEN’S
MENSTRUAL HEALTH IS EVERYONE’S PRIORITY. We took the opportunity to
highlight and discuss the challenges women and girls face, especially in rural areas, to
access menstrual products. Lack of affordability and accessibility remain two significant
challenges for women to obtain safe and hygienic menstrual health. The event was
marked by the distribution of menstrual products to girls and women who were unable
to afford them. We hope to build on this and expand on the distribution or provision of
menstrual products to girls and women in the neighbouring villages.
